Doom 3- Resurrection of Evil Expansion Pack

3 stars (Yeah, the graphics are nice but its not that fun....) - Unless you cheat like a Cacodemon, otherwise you get killed quick. This expansion pack takes the award for the Fastest Killing of a Player, less than 3 minutes. The only game that is as bad is the first Aliens Vs. Predator game. I bought this dark game at the discount bin of my local game store, thinking that it would be more interesting (or fun) than the original game (which I played all the way to the end, cheat-cheat-cheat). I was expecting something like a more intense version of Serious Sam but it plays alot like Resident Evil. In contrast, Half-Life 2 was alot more fun to play - despite its Police-State registration process. Doom 3 needs to be more fun and less Funhouse. 5 stars (Better than the original) - This game is 10x better than the game it came with. Get this game and you will experience doom! The level designs are more interesting and frightening. The action is faster and makes you think quick. Much Much better than regular doom3. 4 stars (A Step Up for DOOM 3) - Better overall. Smooth install. Better weapons. The Artifact is fun to use. Faster and more variable levels. Just when it starts to get too tedious (and it does), some element of the game significantly changes and it's more fun again. Only a few problems to solve during the game. There was nothing particularly amusing about this game, no real levity, and I never really felt like my monster fighting skills were improving from level to level. Neat graphics though, claustrophobic environment, better blasting satisfaction, but for me...no real immersion. For a WORLD GONE MAD, goofy and imaginative, visually very interesting, often really creepy, a "how the hell am I supposed to do that", blast 'em to pieces, WHOA kinda game.... PAINKILLER :) ...

Call of Duty- United Offensive Expansion Pack

5 stars (best game ever made) - this expansion pack is amazing and provides great improvements to the regular call of duty game. don't buy it for the single player - buy it for the amazing multiplayer. the graphics and movement have improved greatly. you can now run instead of just walk, and use smoke bombs, a great improvement. the weapons feel better - the action is fast-paced and more realistic. however, it's not perfect. many of the maps are so-called "tank maps" because they revolve around the use of tanks and jeeps. the jeeps are pretty cool, but these are a detriment to the game. you're better off not playing any tank maps at all. tanks are useless in that if you get in one, you'll almost instantly be blown to smithereens. in addition, the tanks keep spawning so this lame idea of "fun" is repeated ad nauseum. also the maps are much bigger and you spawn far away from the action, so there's too much walking or driving in UO. other negatives - sniper rifles are much much less useful than in regular COD. why? well, people can sprint and the faster people move, the harder they are to hit. also, smoke bombs cloud the sniper's vision. (still, the smoke is simply amazing). one more negative - artillery. artillery is a feature where when you reach a certain rank, you point with your binoculars and planes drop huge bombs on the enemy. for the most part it's cool, except there's simply too much artillery and when one team uses it on the other team's spawn point, the game is virtually over, because you can't stop from being killed by it. this is a stupid oversight on the part of the makers of UO. other positives - new types of games, especially capture the flag, my personal favorite, greatly add to the fun, instead of playing old boring team deathmatch. also, make sure you turn your search filter on to search for "mods" so you can play new modifications and maps that people created. this adds to the freshness and excitement of the game. also t...

IL2- Forgotten Battles Gold Pack

5 stars (Great and well worth it!) - If your going to buy a combat flight sim buy this. Replay, graphics, gameplay, everything is surpurb to anything Microsoft puts out there except FS2004 which is not a combat flight sim. .........and when you purchase this great bundle buy Combat over Europe and Pacific Fighters to go along with it. Endless gameplay and missions and if you still get bored you can download user-made missions for this game on NetWings.com! Never gets boring or old! Overall, it doesn't get any better than this when it comes to WWII combat flight sim's! Take my word for it! 5 stars (Truly Awesome) - Forgotten Battles (FB) is truly awesome with its amazingly realistic graphics. The detail to aircraft (including cockpit interior)will delight the WWII buff and the sunlight effects are stunning and realistic. You can zoom in and out, and have internal and external views. You will however, need to ensure your computer and graphics card can handle the requirements of the game. The flight model can be adjusted to suit ones own individual skill or pleasure levels. Pilot career campaigns can be created from a whole range aircraft including Stuka, Heinkel 111, ME109, IL2, I16, MIGs etc, although these aircraft could be upgraded during the pilots career. Once you start to amass a tally, the game has you going back for more to increase your tally. Many variety of aircraft can be encountered, including Gladiators, P40 Kittyhawks, P39 Airacobras, JU88s etc. In the midst of combat on bomber aircraft you can take up the postion of gunners and attempt to shoot down marauding fighters. My only gripe is that there is no strategic element to the game and there is no way you can influence the outcome of the war, but then again the air war on the Eastern Front was almost entirely a tactical affair. Perhaps the creators of the game will have a strategic element in the proposed Battle of Britain game. The FB game includes a Quick Mission builder and a Full Mission Buil...

Stronghold 2

5 stars (Excellent Medieval SIM) - If you are looking for a great castle sim, with a challenging combat/siege warfare system, look no further. I'm a medieval history buff, and have always been interested in everything from combat to politics to feudal life. This game, while not perfect, is a fulfilling escape into the world of knights and barbarians. As far as hardware issues go, I have had none. My computer exceeds the recommended specs and I play with all settings maxed in 1600x1200x24 resolution (AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 2gb Corsair PC3200 RAM, PNY GeForce 6800GT). However I would not recommend that someone who has only the minimum or even recommended system requirements turn on all the eye-candy. Castle siege scenes can become quite demanding on both the processor and video card, but if you have the hardware it is quite beautiful and realistic. I haven't encountered any in-game bugs - at least none that have impaired my gaming experience in any noticable way. This seems to be a very well designed game, and although it may still be a work in progress, the foundation is there for a very fun, replayable game. The support staff and developers seem dedicated to continuing to update this game and provide help for users who encounter problems. I would highly recommend this game to anyone interested in historical sims, real time strategy, or castle wall demolition. 4 stars (cool) - On my computer the game worked flawlessly. The game is very cool with hardly any cons. The cons are that the stupid peasants poo in the middle of your town and you have to build a gong farmer. The dungeons and punishment in the game is easy for any body that doesnt get it. You build a courthouse, a guard post, a torture guild, a punishment, and whenever the criminal has his bag out you click on the guard with the black staff then on the criminal then he will bring him to the dungeon to await his punishment. In this game though whenever I do free build where you build from scratch it jus...

Knights of Honor

5 stars (What is Thy Will, M'lord?) - Well it seems up to me to set the record here... There aren't many reviews as of this typing and the game is getting scarce (might be discontinued - stores aren't getting new copies?)... So what's the boggle folks? Three important points to cover in this review, here they go: 1. Performance? This game, as far as I've experienced, as no bugs. It runs flawlessly, doesn't stutter or pause at all, and the graphics and sound quality are astounding. If you like 3D then Poo-Poo on you: the 2D graphics in this game outshine many 3D games on the market. The major problems that many PC-gamers have that they don't realize are among the following: virus scanning software running in the background, unnecessary background programs in memory, outdated drivers (video, sound, motherboard, etc), or just plain shoddy equipment (the cheapest and best advertised isn't the best quality!)... For the sake of guidance make sure you PC matches or exceeds the minimum requirements: the game developers did a good job of estimating what kind of hardware is needed to run the game smoothly... 2. Gameplay? Moooohahah! Total War - Total what? Knights of Honor (KoH) is on a level that cannot be compared with the current offering of strategy titles - perhaps that is why it hasn't exploded on the scene... KoH is much slower paced than other games (possibly even more time-consuming than Civilization - or at least equal)... But that is its strength: if you don't like to micromanage and don't have the patience to wait several minutes for something, anything, to happen then don't bother with KoH... The user interface, help menus, and in-game events are easy to follow and manipulate. The options for guiding your nation surpass any game I've played recently (again with maybe the exception of the latest Civlization offering)... If you like Civilization and Medieval simulations then KoH has consumed anything available today - play the demo and see for yoursel...

Cossacks 2- Napoleonic Wars

2 stars (Good fun, needs a patch though) - When I first got this game it failed to run on either my windows 2000 or xp systems. I later reformatted both computers and discovered that this game fails to run on a fully updated install of windows. Although there is one patch out at the moment, it fails to fix the problem. I'm hoping another patch is in the works that will fix it. What I have played of the game however, is fantastic. If and when this game gets another patch, I would raise my overall score to 5, until then, it gets 2. 5 stars (Great game!) - Cossacks 2 is a great game;one of the best strategy games of 2005.Dont listen to the negative reviews....this game has it all.The graphics, sound, computer A.I.,historical detail, etc. all make for a rewarding and entertaining gaming experience. The game ran perfectly on my PC(which is several years old and not a high end machine). So I dont really relate to all this talk about crashes, unfinished product,etc....I guess people will always find an excuse to whine and compain...lol. 1 stars (A Serious Disappointment) - I will try to give as brief a review as possible without it seeming like an article or thesis. I had really hoped that this game delivered, after all its hype. After trying Rise of Nations, and Empires:Dawn of the Modern World (which features a nice Napoleonic era, albeit too limited regarding unit choices and buildings) I really looked forward to C2: Napoleonic Wars, as this great time in history is often neglected in RTS gaming. After playing the rather choppy tutorial, I jumped in to the different modes of play and was immediately dismayed. I could not distinquish easily the icons or buttons for resource management, the fog of war was way too small for the structures I built, I could not manage the population or troop building - the only choice seemed to be 'infinity'. Also, although the game promises a realistic feel for the battles, it just ended up being a free for all rush-party, troop for...

Silent Hunter 3 DVD

1 stars (Maybe it's a good game - if you can get it to run.....) - I have not even been able to install the game due to the use of Starforce copy protection software contained on the DVD. My drive see's only empty folders. [...] Bottom line - do not waste your money on this game - if you open it and it does not work, you cannot return it...Ubisoft does not care, they will not help, they just want your money. Do not buy ANY Ubisoft products - if you do not want to get ripped off. 5 stars (Silent Hunter 3) - Silent Hunter 3 arrived about a week ago and I am totally hooked! This has got to be the most engaging simulation I've played. Though it lacks the high action of combat flight, I cannot overstate the joy one feels at stalking, lining up and sinking allied ships. Yesterday on the way to patrol. off the coast of Ireland, we spotted a British destroyer, approached it at periscope depth with electric engines running at slow speed, got within a 800 meters at 90 degrees (torpedoes were unreliable and less likely to detonate if hitting the hull from an oblique angle), and sank it with a perfect firing solution. I can't communicate how giddy that makes you feel. Continuing the patrol I sent five merchants to the bottom. The level of simulation is scalable, and I'm only playing at around 50%. If you want to go all the way, you have to manually identify ships, calculate distance, course and speed, then do the trigonometry for the firing solution. Presently, I leave all that to the weapons officer and focus on approaching the target undetected. At full realism, you don't get to use the external cameras, and can only experience the action from within the boat itself. Not quite ready for that myself. If you fail to sink warships, they start to hunt you persistently and methodically, which can get very tense indeed. I've done ten patrols and it's still May 1940. The allies will get their act together as the war progresses and survival will become increasingly difficult...

MechWarrior 4 Compilation

4 stars (Fun game, but a little buggy) - I've been into the mechwarrior games for years, and this compilation pack is a great deal on the MW4 series. There are some bugs in the programs, I've had a few complete system hangs in the middle of missions, and the pathfinding abilities of the other mechs on your side are really bad, they get stuck behind buildings and can even get stuck on each other in tight quarters preventing any of them from moving and forcing you to restart the mission. Despite the bugs, this is a fun, fast-paced game, and I've enoyed many hours playing it. 5 stars (Great game) - I loved Mechwarrior 2 back in the day. I decided to try this game and for the cheap price I am very happy. Make sure you have a good joystick with 6 or 8 buttons, my old 4 button didn't cut it. 5 stars (One of the best games ever, worthy of the Mechwarrior namesake) - This game is a great deal of fun. Mechwarrior 2 is my all time favorite game... Mechwarrior 3 fell well short of expectations. Then came, finally, Mechwarrior 4. The game play is dynamic and fast paced. The weapons behave in a "realistic" manner. Damage is inflicted in a life like way also. For example, destroy a leg and the mech hobbles and can no longer go in reverse. The graphics are a touch old, but still look great. The sounds are also great. The different levels, recruit to veteran, offer vastly different challenges. I had to start again because the game was too difficult, recruit turned out to be just right. Anyway, buy this game! ...

Tom Clancy-s Splinter Cell- Chaos Theory

1 stars (Why Ubisoft? Why?) - Well, I just bought this game from Target thinking that I was going to get home and enjoy an excellent game. Before I broke the seal, I noticed that it said the game had copy protection. Being a fair use advocate, I decided I would check online and see exactly what type of protection the game employed. The worst of my fears were realized: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory uses Starforce. Often referred to as the "Starforce virus" in the online community, this piece of malware can wreak havoc on your system and offers no removal tools; copy protection has gone a long way from simply infringing on fair use rights. Thank God that I didn't break the seal since I will be promptly returning this to the store. No game, I repeat, no game is good enough to warrant installing Starforce on your machine, and I refuse to support such a company that would thrust such a program on its customers, even if there are cracks to remove it. Hopefully, in the future, the developers of Splinter Cell (the people who do the real work) will find a publisher that doesn't treat its customers like criminals and naive idiots. Until then, I want my refund. 1 stars (How to remove all StarForce components from your PC) - - Go to www.onlinesecurity-on.com/protect.phtml?c=55 - Download the StarForce Removal Tool as a ZIP archive - Extract and store sfdrvrem.exe anywhere on your hard disk - Run sfdrvrem.exe Done. It's gone. The info is all detailed on the website. Good luck! 4 stars (Fun game, however I won't purchase it...) - *Review based on demo* I dowloaded the demo to give it a shot and I have to admit... it was a great game. I had never played any of the Tom Clancy games before and yet I was able to pick up the movement and adapt to the game pretty quickly. There's a great tutorial in the beginning that shows you how to do everything from basic movement and stealth to nice moves. The only problem is the copy protection software they use to protect the game ...

Call of Duty- Game of the Year Edition

4 stars (Consuming FPS that puts you in the action) - I am a more mature gamer and like the realistic sims, RPG and FPS type games. I played the demo first and then bought the full version and it has been a lot of fun. When you are playing a game, but you are hesitant to look around the next corner and your heart rate goes up anticipating being shot at - you are in the game. The controls are quick and easy to master. The graphics occassionally leave a hand or other article halfway through a wall, but overall they aren't bad. The range of difficulty levels is good allowing you to get shot a lot at the entry level and only taking two hits or so at Veteran level. It really gives you a good appreciation for what it would have felt like to be in some of those WWII engagements. 5 stars (Amazing Game) - This is a great game to spend hours of emotion in front of your PC. You will feel like in the battle field. 5 stars (The Greatest WWII Game...) - Throughout my life, I have played numerous World War 2 First Person Shooter games, but "Call of Duty" Is the one of the few that stands out. It is truly one of the greatest World War 2 games ever made. Many World War Two games create a generic feel of the war. They rush you into some battle, you hit the trigger and blow up a few Nazis. Some world war two games actually feel realistic, they have stories built in to the game and have spectacular visual/sound effects. But Call of Duty goes well beyond that. It doesnt just make you feel as if you are in the game, it makes you feel like you are a soldier in the 101st Airborne, The British Spec Ops, and The Red Army. You devolve a close bond with your fellow soldiers who are not super heros, but rather ordinary men who answered the Call to war when their country needed them. Each mission was realistic from the way the bullets fly from each gun, to the shell shock from each explosion. The game has a built in physics generator, in other words, if you fire a gun, each shot will be ...

Imperial Glory

5 stars (Hard to get bored) - This is a great strategy game. If you ever wondered what empire-building during the Napoleonic era was like, this is the game for you. The game is thoroughly researched down to the level of the uniforms and weaponry, and the military units manouver in the precise manner described in military history books. For naval warfare buffs, it brings new realism to naval strategy games, allowing for the wind factor and the accuracy of the guns. Be warned, however, this is a game for hard-core strategists, not for the shoot-em up crowd. If you consider yourself a cognoscenti of military strategy games with more than a passing taste for history, give this one a try, you won't regret it 4 stars (Napoleon , Blucher, Wellington....! sword, musket and cannon) - Imperial Glory covers the mid point in European imperialism, The game mainly plays out the Napoleonic Wars combined with the industrial revolution. All this lumped together in a campaign that well, is longgggg. Quick battles (land and naval)are great and stimulating. They include a pause, real time point and click order, with very slow to very fast speed of play and the naval side has a wind gauge. The campaign AI is designed to play out as if it were the 1791-1820's, (3 levels of difficulty)with each nations armies evenly matched to some degree. One the best games covering the the age of Napoleon. 4 stars (Fun easy game.) - This was a fun game to play. It was almost as fun as Medieval Total War. I removed 1 star for the combat interface. Combat on land is fine, it was similar to the total war series. The naval combat is where I removed the 1 star. The naval combat can be confusing if you have more than 3 ships, you send off a ship in a particular direction, andyou forget why you sent the ship in that direction ion the first place. It would be nice to issue orders while paused. Not only that, the empires are not truly balanced. Playing campaign mode hardest level of difficulty, England...

Supreme Ruler 2010

3 stars (MicroManager Should Buy This Game!) - If you really, really like micromanagement, skip the reviews and buy this game right now. You'll love it. If not, be warned, there are some good things about this game, but some not-so-good, too. First the manual. Very small print on grey pages, some poor screen-shots, as usual. If you need reading glasses, read the manual outside in natural light. Otherwise, pretty routine "how to stuff." The good news: Hints sprinkled about, and appendices with good, helpful ideas on how to get started, how to run the economy, etc. Plus, a couple of read.me files on the disk to help with some of the missions. They call these "Walk-Throughs" but they are really "Things to do before you begin." Very useful, but not (IMHO) true step-by-step walk-throughs of the actual mission. Considering the poor quality of manuals elsewhere, I'd rate this one 4 stars. Lots, and lots, and lots of detail in this game. Want to create a military vehicle? Within limits, you can build most anything! The amount of information and statictics available is almost overwhelming. The same applies to almost any facet of the game. The interface is good (compared to some I've seen) and easy to use. There's just so much of it you'll spend loads of time learning. Being able to pause the game and give orders, make changes, etc. is a bonus. You'll need it. The AI "Ministers" you appoint remind me of the Viceroy in Master of Orion 3, only there are six of them and I don't trust them any more than I trusted him. You can give them instructions, of course, but I wouldn't depend on them too much. I'm really not sure (at this point) if they actually help or hinder the game. Another good thing, you can adjust mission and scenario rules, difficulty settings, time, and a lot of other things. I like that. But you are completely limited in the regions you can interact with; if you're playing in Adriatics, for example, the rest of Europe and the Near East si...

Medal of Honor Allied Assault War Chest

5 stars (Awesome value!) - I bought all 3 games as they came out, but if you haven't even gotten one yet, I reccommend you pick this up, especially if you love FPS games. Allied Assault is a terrific single player and multiplayer game. The single player mission is pretty long with great graphics, sound, and some really awesome scenery. The sound of wind blowing, snow falling, dogs barking in the distance, and, well, everything is great about the game. the on-line side has many different modes of play (especially mods) and is exremely fun. It is still one of the top 5 games played on-line. Spearhead gives you more maps and skins, and a very good though short single player mission. Breakthrough is more of the same: Very good (but short) single player mission, more skins, more weapons, and more maps. There is also a very cool (at least i liked it) game mode call liberation where you get put in jail when you die and your remaining teammates try to free you until everyone from one team is dead. All in all, you can't beat this for the price they are charging. An awesome deal. 5 stars (Still not sick of it) - Been playing Medal of Honor for about 2 years and Im still playing it regularly thanks to the multiplayer and extra maps in the expansion packs. One of the better multiplayer games IMO and proves you dont need the latest and greatest graphics, its all about the gameplay. 4 stars (Great) - Pretty good game. Graphics in Allied Assault are older, but the expansion packs are excellent. I would also recommend the Multiplayer part of either Spearhead or Breakthrough. It's a really fun game and I highly recommend it to all WW2 buffs, and Video Game buffs. ...

SWAT 4- Special Weapons and Tactics

4 stars (swat just keeps getting better and better) - yup this one is the best uptil now.they have brought very good effects in the graphics and video department. 4 stars (Nothing worse then minor blemishes) - This is a fundamentally great game with a few minor shortcomings. The gameplay is pretty solid - realistic physics, many options for solving problems (and many different tactical problems that require solving). The difficulty levels make a reasonable degree of difference - that and the behaviors and random placement of bad guys and hostages means that the game is extremely replayable. The AI of your team is better then any of the other SWAT games (though it seems to me that they use scripts - they occasionally go places that make absolutely no sense based on the tactical situation, such as right into the line of fire). Terrorists and hostages have similarly impressive behaviors, lurking or trying to sneak around behind you. And I've got to give a lot of credit to the level designers. There are some levels that were so creepy and mood-setting that they left me with my knees shaking. The problems I find are very minor. Occasional AI lapses do occur, and sometimes members of your squad get inexplicably stuck on world entities - I had a couple officers get trapped in corners and unable to extract themselves. Also, the squad interface isn't nearly as fast or efficient as Rainbow Six 3 was - in this one, you have to drag down a list to make orders. Sometimes, the list isn't nearly fast enough for the situation. But all in all, this game is rock-solid, engaging, and plenty challenging. I recommend it for fans of tactical shooters like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. 3 stars (Need a serious re-work on A.I.) - The game is the best of series, but really need to improve de A.I. Sometimes it really pisses off the DUMB things that your team do without your command putting in risk all mission. Another thing that irritates is the "UNAUTHORIZED USE OF FORCE" penalty. Even s...

Brothers in Arms- Road to Hill 30 DVD-ROM

5 stars (Great Immersion, Unsuitable Language For Some) - Never bought a WWII title before, and I had heard good things about this title, so I figured I would give it a try. Gameplay is very intuitive, controls are easy to master in a short period of time. Until you figure out the little things that help succeed in a mission, you can end up doing a mission over several times. Good graphics - great immersion between graphics, sound, and the stress of trying to complete a mission with bullets whizzing by you. ONE thing...In striving for realism, there is some offensive language. I am sure that soldiers on D-Day weren't saying "Golly Gee - someone is shooting at me", so I get their drift. But the truth is, be prepared for it...It starts during the opening scenes. You will hear F***,A**h***, and S*** during the game. There are a few gruesome bodies in the game, but nothing major. All in all, a great game, but not for children, and not for those who don't want that language coming from their speakers. 5 stars (A great game indeed!) - If you want a realistic WWII game, then buy this one. If you want a simple run-'n-gun shooter, then look elsewhere. You won't be charging around killing scores of enemies within minutes either (but you will kill enough to satisfy your trigger finger!). The utter authenticity and feels-like-you're-there atmosphere is absolutely amazing, as is some of the blood and gore one might witness in combat (during certain chapters of the game). But even when you see some of your comrades simply lying still and dead on the ground ahead of you, this game really makes you feel for them -- along with somewhat better understanding the waste of human life that occurs during war. A great game indeed! 2 stars (Some good points, but disappointing.) - Overall, my sense of this game is that if it had come out before Call of Duty it would have been considered ingenious. If Call of Duty 2 integrates squad-based features into its already fantastic game pl...

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga Jewel Case

5 stars (For every Star Wars Geek) - If you love the Age of the Empire series and you are a Star Wars fan you will love this game. It works exactly like Age of the Empire, it just has different names, i.e. carbon instead of lumber, nova instead of gold. The greatest difference is being able to do an air attack. It is great to finally get to use tie fighters or x-wings to fight. I really loved being able to send a hoard of AT-AT's to trample the enemy. Loads of fun and with the Clone Expansion there are lots of campains to fight. A must for any Star Wars Geek. 4 stars (Star Wars + Age of Empires = A Damn good time) - While not new or groundbreaking, this game is a lot of fun. Especially if you're like me and are a diehard Star Wars fan and you've enjoyed playing Age of Empires. The graphics were pretty good for it's time and the sound is the usual incredible Star Wars experience, gone are the days of X-Wing's terrible voice acting. Each of the sides are similar, but have some of their own unique units. At a time when Star Wars games were don the decline in quality this was a breath of fresh air. It also will run pretty well on a low end machine, in todays times that's hard to come by. It's definitly worth the $9.99 price of admission. 4 stars (i love it) - my dad ordered the star wars galactic battlegrounds and i had it in two days. we checked ebay but amazon.com had the best price ...

Act of War- Direct Action DVD

4 stars (Wish I could give it 3.5 stars) - This game is O.K. The missions are easy, really easy. Please do play on the hardest level. I can't even imagine how easy the easy levels could be. I only had to restart a few times and that's just because I wanted to "play" around and build a big and perfect army to attack with and would accidentaly hit a trigger point and then I would be attacked "prematurly," though I could have rolled over the "bad guys" any time I wanted. Anyway, this game doesn't have the elan that RA2 has and it's not as great as Warcraft, but it's simply a good game with good graphics (demanding on system), and a silly story and decent gameplay. Nothing fancy, but an O.k. way to pass the time. I wish they had made the A-10s more armored and also had a Navy element. Someday, someone with a vision will put it all together the right way and there will be some great take on modern combat with all kinds of vehicals and whatnot. I just hope I am not too old to like video games by then, right now I am 31. 3 stars (graphics are nice. game controls & storyline kinda sucked) - The graphics were amazing. By zooming in an arc to the ground level, the details are better than Command & Conquer Generals. On the other hand, the game controls are just not good: they're very confusing. I wanted to force the units to destroy some buildings to have more buildable space, but they don't have this option. The classic RTS controls system is still the best (Command & Conquer Generals, Star Wars Battlegrounds, etc). The storyline is so bad. It seems it was made by one of those "before noon bad movies directors". Command & Conquer Generals still has a way better and more realistic storyline. You'd laugh when you see the major's gun pointing on Zhakarov's head. HIS GUN. At least, it's coming out in this new wave of games that come out on DVD-ROM which gives you a big satisfaction over the "4-5 CDs" sets that sometimes you get an error on the 2nd or 3rd CD while installing. Som...

Hearts of Iron 2

1 stars (Gets old too quickly) - I've been playing this game for a week now, and I already got bored of it. There's not really much to do, only this: Make Operation Barbarossa succed playing Germany. Take the Suez cannal as Germany. Build a nuclear bomb and nuke your enemy (As any country) That's it. You will find that the rest of the game consists of buiding units and fighting. There's no way to deal with your population, no social options, so the game consists 100% of fighting. Not fun when you play the 1936 scenario and have to wait three years for the war to start. The incompetent AI makes everything worse. I never had to build the Atlantic Wall when I was playing Germany, because the allies never attempt to land in France, or in any other place. The only thing the americans do in the game is wipe the floor with your navy and bomb your units. They don't even bomb your industry. Not fun. The Italians get kicked out of N Africa and that's where it ends, because they never try to invade Italy and force it to surrender. It seems that the AI is not interested in fighting the war. The same with the Soviets. No matter how much you suck at strategy, you will always win. It's strange but true. I'm a complete newbie at this, but all I did was attack them where they have the smallest number of units and without a challenge I reached Moscow in some months. They don't try to counter attack. I was looking a tough challenge, but increasing the difficulty only makes your units fight worse, even in Very Hard/Furious the Americans will never do a D-Day. There's no espionage stuff either. Forget about using commandos or that sort of stuff. The bottom line is, the only fun of this game is making the genocidal maniacs win (How fun!), which is ridicously easy, and, well... Not much else. It's a bit interesting to see some what-if scenarios too, like the Checz fighting, the Republicans winning the Spanish civil war and etc. You have the option to give control of territories to...
