4 stars (Nice Program!) - After you purchase this, a free upgrade is availble for the 4.0 version. Winproxy shares internet connections seamlessly. The sharing is very simple to set up, but can be a little tricky. Good documentation at the Mfgrs. web site. 1 stars (Stay away from this one) - This would not work properly on my 3 Windows Me pc's. The host computer always required 3 attempts to boot up. The email support always responded within 24 hours, but they were not very knowledgeable. I tried several other internet connection sharing applications, including the newly released WinProxy 4 and found WinRoute Lite to be the best and easiest to configure. alan@computer-rescue.net 1 stars (How to waste 8 hours, 1 server, and 2 workstations) - I found this to be the worst product I have tried to use for a long time. I downloaded the eval of the product and first succeeded in destroying my NT server. I contacted their tech support and they told me it was because I had been using Microsoft's Proxy Server. In order to give them a fair chance, I built a brand new Windows 95-B machine. I tried to install their software and was told immediately to upgrade my Winsock.dll. I did. Then I installed their product and lost connectivity to my internal network. Again I contacted tech support via email. To make an 8 hour story short, their tech support gave me TCP/IP settings that simply don't work or follow any book I have ever read. Then I learned after several hours that installing WinProxy will "toast" the TCP/IP stack on Windows95. I finally did get it running at a speed of about 1200 Baud across a cable modem. 5 stars (Wonderful resource!) - I was thrilled when I heard that a book was being published on Business Objects! After getting a copy of Cindi Howson's book, I was even more pleased! It is truly a very comprehensive guide on how to use Business Objects. It does a good job of explaining the concepts behind business intelligence as well the the different Business Objects products. I think every person who uses Business Objects would benefit from owning this book! I recommend it through our local user group and to all of my clients! 4 stars (Business Objects: The Complete Reference) - As a reference guide, the book is extremely valuable. I have seen other books on this subject that are essentially a copy of the help guide. Not to mention that the pricing is 2 to 3 times what a normal book would cost. The examples are good and the index is pretty complete. A test for a good reference book is that you can readily find the solution to a particular problem. Ms. Howson's book certainly fits the bill. It would have been nice to have more how to descriptions and practical solutions to common business problems. 5 stars (More than BO!) - Based on the first section alone, Getting Ready for Business Objects, I would recommend this book to anyone just starting out in the Business Intelligence space! Finally someone has come out with a workable model for BI implementation. It is obvious Ms. Howson actually operates in the real world and understands that sometimes you have to OLTP before you STAR and OLAP. In addition to this lagniappe, there are solid explanations of Universe Design and Report Creation principles. I actually prefer the WROX line of books, but this compares nicely in terms of technical depth. The book provides perspective from both the IT professional and the end user. However, it provides no explanation of how to install or tune Business Objects servers. Basically, it assumes that Business Objects is up and running. I would say that the book is prima... 1 stars (Depends on your use) - The Hemera "Photo Clip Art 150,000" contains almost all the images in this collection, but this is nearly 4x the price for 1/3 the images. What is the difference? The images here have about a 20% higher resolution and transparency masks (i.e. Photo Clip Art forces you to have a colored background, but you can have no background with photo objects). Neither is really suitable for print unless you don't want to print any of the photos beyond 2 inches high/wide. If you're designing for the web, you're usually going to throw a background in behind photos anyway, or if you need the transparency, you can easily select some obscure color for the background and "magic wand" it out in 30 seconds. So, if you bought the whole photo objects collection, you'd spend nearly ten times as much to get mostly the same photos (i.e. Photo Clip Art has 26 photos of an Asian woman as a nurse while Photo Objects has the same 26 photos plus 3 more) a little larger and with transparency. If you're a professional designer who would use this extensively, the extra cost might be worth it. But if you're dabbling in web design, get the "Photo Clip Art 150,000" instead and save yourself a LOT of money. 1 stars (Buggy program and non-existent support) - Sigh.........program will not run or install unless you close absolutely everything including antivirus. The images of trucks, vehicles, cars are toys!! This is not a product that can be used professionally by a company looking to keep desktop publishing in-house. Even for free-lance work, most of these images are too cheesy to use...I would be embarrassed. There are far too many photo objects of the same item from different angles. More of a variety would be nice. I haven't yet found one photo object I can use either for our web-site, marketing material...
