5 stars (info galore) - This book is a kick-start. It gives you a great desire to get started and a belief that you can do this. Reading it once will not be enough if you want to truly learn all that is offered in this book. 5 stars (One of the best books of the year!) - "How to Buy, Sell and Profit" is, in my opinion, one of the best business books of 2005. This book has insight, education, humor and is easy to read. The information is logically outlined and contains value to both the beginner and advanced eBay seller. Essentially the book is written in story format and not like a textbook, which is what makes it so easy to follow and understand. eBay is a great opportunity for people to make a lot of money, or just get rid of some stuff in their house. In "How to Buy, Sell & Profit on eBay" I learned how best use eBay to apply to my situation. I highly recommend this book. It's the best book I've ever read on the subject of eBay - and one of the best business books I've read this year! 5 stars (Don't miss out on your chance to finally start your eBay business. Get this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - I have been buying from eBay for years and I have really enjoyed. I've never had a bad experience. I always wondered what it would be like to 'sell' as well. This book was recommended to me by a fantastic marketer called Bill Glazer. I have a lot of respect for him. Anyway I bought the book as Bill advised and it's really great. It gives fantastic advice on how to get started fast. It really would drive you to ACTION. A few days after reading it I sold my first product.Adam lay's out everything very clearly. I followed Adam's advice and started selling things lying around the house and up in the attic. My son Neil 'tied' down his two fairly large fish tanks incase I sold them as well.;-) I've now progressed to selling three products and the tests are proving very positive. This book will really get you fired up and you will be very enthusiastic after read... 5 stars (Comprehensive, well-organized and honest) - This book gives a thorough description of how to start and operate a small vending operation. The first chapter is perhaps the most important for novices, because it helps you figure out whether this is the right business for you, and whether you will be able to put enough time into it to be successful. The book is organized logically and systematically, making it easy to find the information you need in its 130-odd pages. The author takes an honest approach; instead of advocating cheating on taxes, he explains how to keep good records that will make it possible to substantiate legal tax deductions. 5 stars (perfect book - loved it) - enjoyed reading this book. very good work by the author! 3 stars (Vending 101) - This E-Book is good for someone thinking about getting into vending and comes across as geniunely interested in protecting amateurs from the snakes in this industry. I have plenty of experience in vending and knew 98% of the contents and so, for me, it was not worth the $15 I paid. The politically correct use of "she" and "hers" was also a distraction. An overview of the Vending market was missing and there is no list of references for the reader to do his own research. So, the E-book is good for rookies but people already familiar with the business do not need it. ... 1 stars (Another Disappointing Book on Strategy) - Every once in a while I go out and buy another strategy book to flip through, and honestly, I am generally disappointed in what is out there. This book however ranks among the worst. The first sign is the blatant grammatical and spelling errors starting in Chapter 1 (i.e. "...then we are run like hell out of the trade."). The second warning bell comes with the gross misrepresentations about the market in general (i.e. "...low-price stocks translates into a higher-risk premium and, as a category, these low-priced stocks tends to do well..." - again, the author's grammar, verbatim). Sometimes the poor grammar can be chalked up to someone who is so into their game that they skipped less important classes when they were young (i.e. grammar, spelling, literature), and market hype can be the result of true passion, albeit a wee bit overzealous. Unfortunately, the reader quickly discovers the actual content is not very useful either, and is just a re-hashing of weak systems containing catchy buzz words and simplistic formulas. 5 stars (Greate book for system devlopers) - I have been developing trading systems for 5 years and this book has many intesting ideas. I checked most of them out with my data and started trading with some. I think it is a great book for someone who is interested with system development and needs new ideas. 1 stars (Don't waste your time or money.) - This is one of those rare books which are so thin, you can learn as much from their table of contents as from their actual contents. There are a number of things I didn't like about this book and its packaging, but I will only list two for brevities sake. First, there are not "20 Successful Uncorrelated Strategies". "Technique 19" is simply a list of what the author believes doesn't work. "Technique 20" is a reading list of books the author likes; there are probably hundreds of Wall Street listmanias listing the same books. The other 18 present abs... 5 stars (A book for the 21st century) - Niven is one of the best authors on BSC. If this administration and communications tool has been hailed as one the best new concepts in the business world, in nonprofit and government administration it can have even more impact. It is a great general introduction, but even seasoned experts will find enlightenment and a great very updated bibliography. Works very well as a textbook for nonprofit management with HBS cases. 5 stars (Clear, informative and highly implementable advice) - Although the Balanced Scorecard has taken over performance mangagement thinking in business, its linkages and adaptability to public and non-profit organizations has remained extremely challenging. I currently am resposible for leading planning and strategy development for a large social services provider in Canada. Being a strong proponent of Balanced Scorecard theory, I anxiously waited two months for Paul Niven's latest book to hit the shelves in hope that I could adapt the balanced scorecard approach to evaluate our organization's strategy. Long story short >> Balanced Scorecard for Government and Nonprofit Agencies was an incredible investment, and we are now on the way to better measuring and reporting on our organization's progress with the help of this book's advice, tips and proecess design steps. Paul Niven's writing style provides a clear and informative description of the balanced scorecard approach to performance planning and measurement - and presents easy-to-follow steps for designing and implementing performance systems to monitor and evaluate the impact of nonprofit and public sector programs. I highly recommend this easy-to-read book to anyone interested in understanding how the world's leading approach to performance measurement and management can be successfully incorporated into your organization. 4 stars (Good & Practical Book on Balanced Scorecard) - I've read most of the literature on the Balanced Scorecard and the previo...
