And I hope I still can get full refund. 1 stars (Doesn't work with OS X) - I want to like this thing, but I can't, for it does not work at all with OS X. So, if, like me, you run Apples, just pass on by this page because the thing will not work for you. 3 stars (Not as good as the C-Pen 800C) - I'm measuring, first and foremost, ease and precision of scanning. Speed of scanning and ease of installation on the computer are, in my mind, about the same for both this, the Wizcom QuickLink Elite, and the C-Pen 800C. They differ sufficiently, however, in the primary question of ease and quality of scanning. For the record, I bought both at the same time, with the intent of keeping the better of the two. You can just go ahead and buy the C-Pen 800C. I have had one horrible experience with a pen scanner by Siemens, the "Pocket Reader." It was truly useless. It scanned so poorly that I just put it aside. By the time I though to return it, Siemens was no longer making it, and I couldn't get customer service here in the U.S. The Wizcom QuickLink Elite is not so bad. It's serviceable. I don't think it lives up to its 95% accuracy guarantee, but perhaps meets a 90% threshold, measured impressionistically. It's interface is also reasonable and satisfactory. However, the C-Pen 800C is even more precise, truly approaching 95%. Moreover, if you discount errors in spacing from this accuracy percentage, its precision is even higher. Whereas the Wizcom is just as likely to make a content error, misread letters, etc., the 800C's errors are more likely to be the absence of a space when there should be one. A rare missed space doesn't make you puzzle over the text when you come back to it two months later. C-Pen is also lighter, and it's rechargeable, so while it's more expensive, in the long run, you'll save on batteries. Bo... 5 stars (A great source of information for the independent.) - The information is very useful, just the e-book information itself is extremely valuable. The other "reviewer" said that he did not find it useful, and that there was no flexibitliy. However, I disagree, you can make any information as flexible as you choose by simply "exporting" the data. Many forms here, give you all the legal basics that I simply could not find on line (that is without having to pay for it). There is very little information that you can actually obtain for free anymore, and if you find it, you've probably invested hours upon hours of time that could be better spent running your business. I'm thrilled with my Legal Business Pro, now I can do all the work myself, and finetune it as I see fit (by simply exporting the finished document). And for a business owner that does business in several states, it has you covered, as you simply select which state(s) and it extracts the information relevant to you needs. A great resource, for those who would rather do their own work than shell out cash every time they need a simple legal form drafted. 5 stars (The best software product for small business !) - This is a great software product for small business owners. 1 stars (DOESN'T WORK!) - It says it does "double-sided" and "folding" cards right on the back of the box. There are no "double-sided" or "folding" card instructions not even in their PDF manual downloaded from their site. The ONLY way to get any help is through their discussion boards that they say they will respond to in one day. Good luck. When I copied in my logo, it stuck right in the center and spread to the edges closest to it. Couldn't select it, move it, resize it, nothing. None of the basic shapes that you can copy, squares, circles, etc. worked. I WILL FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO USE! This is very frustrating and a complete waste of my $30 which by they way they won't refund OF COURSE! 1 stars (What You See Is NOT What You Get) - This is a one-trick pony which doesn't even perform its one trick well. I ordered Soho Business Cards software to replace my old Corel Print Office 2000 which wouldn't run on Mac OS X. However, it does not begin to compare with my old program. In Soho I can have my images aligned perfectly on the screen and they come out differently in print. On my cards I have a detail of a painting on the lefthand side with the title underneath, and then on the right I include several lines of contact information including my website address. The url is on the same horizontal plane as the title of the painting on my monitor, but creeps upward significantly when it's printed out, making it look very unprofessional. In addition, the color saturation and sharpness isn't as good as the older program's even though I'm using the same printer and Avery card stock. I emailed tech support and they took a long time responding. When I finally heard from them they said that they couldn't replicate the problem and asked me to send them the file I was having difficulty with. Because the file seems to be several MBs and I have a slow dialup connection I told them I couldn't do that. When I heard from them again they suggested that I try saving the file as ... 4 stars (Works as billed) - Before I bought this pen I looked at most of the reviews for other hand held scanners on the market. It seems to be the case that either they works or they don't. In my case it seems to work perfect. Well perfect as in about 5 mistakes in about a hundred words, in other words abouth 1 in 20. This actually isn't as bad as it seems and perhaps I expected the worst but I find this quite tolerable and readable. In addition if the reviews I read are correct, there is a slight learning curve so hopefully it will get better. I haven't had a lot of time to play with the software but is seems to work pretty seamlessly in a Win XP box with SP 2 installed. Install the software, plug in the USB cable, plug in the pen and voila it works (actually it didn't work the first time but it turned out that I hadn't pushed the pen side plug in fully, it should click) Overall it works as billed and for $90-$25 rebate = $65 its a bargain in comparison to the c-pens which start at $165 !! The trick now is actually using it. If your interested here is a scan of a paragraph. Its about my third try. 5 stars (Super Software) - I got this software a few years ago when I first started my home business. It has done everything I have ever asked it to do. Then one day it started to lock up my system so I called tech support for help. As it turns out I had an old version of the software and it was causing problems with service pack 2. The only solution was for me to upgrade to the new version. They gave me 50% off the new program!!!! Now I am back up and sending out invoices. THANKS INVOICES AND ESTIMATES! 2 stars (Great except for the Bugs) - I bought this at OfficeMax because it was on clearance for $10. Now I realize why it was on clearance. The software is great in itself with all the features a small business would need without all the accounting features. I was looking for invoicing and customer records and the software had them both. However, the software has bugs that need to be sorted out. Sometimes, it would work but other times, the software would crash when I tried to create an invoice, and would open back up in Spanish or French version. Thus, it doesn't seem reliable to be able to make invoices at the convenience of the software. The software is great but the bugs are unacceptable. I was using Windows XP with and AMD Athlon XP computer. 4 stars (It works for me!) - I actually bought this software before reading any reviews on it. I was shopping for Quick Books Pro, but was set aback by the price. When I saw Invoices & Estimates Pro it looked like a bargain. It does 80% of what Quick Books does, and it's 1/8th the price. Since all I need is the ability to store customer records and print invoices, it was perfect (although it does lots more than just that). When I got it home and looked up some reviews I was disappointed at what people were saying. I wondered if I should just return it. 5 stars (an excellent product made even better) - I've had earlier versions of this product and eagerly await updated editions since they only get better. For those who have never used it, this is an indispensable tool to open a wide variety of files you may get through the Internet or shared in other ways for which you have no application on your computer. This includes the latest MS Word and Excel 2004 files as well as WordPerfect 12. This highly clever and sophisticated program, which installs very quickly and easily, allows you to open most Windows files, pictures, and e-mail attachments you can't otherwise. It converts both Windows and Macintosh files and allows you to share reformatted files easily on disk or through the Internet. With this program you can translate virtually any file you get, and also view files or pictures with applications you don't own. Further, you can create custom settings to automatically convert certain files. This feature I like since I can drag old databases I created in MS Works in the late 1980s onto a separate icon you can set up to automatically convert them to recent database programs. Slick! For the few files you still cannot open, the program gives tips on opening them, though with past editions I would have liked more information offered here. So far, I'm not sure what to expect on this issue with Version 15.0 since everything I've tried to open has indeed opened fine! One recent feature of MacLinkPlus allows you to carry documents on your iPod, such as directions and "to-do" lists. But not having an iPod, I can only guess is a good feature. 1 stars (Won't even install without manual hack) - So, I wanted some software help in writing my very first ever business plan. This one came highly recommended from reviews here, and elsewhere. So I bought a copy. Guess what? Won't install. Get "Error 1935". I click on 'Contact Us' from the installer. Tech Support? It's a toll call-- no 800 number. So I go to the web page. Track down an article on this problem. The Fix? About an hour's worth of manual labor on my part that *might* fix it-- Palo Alto Software would really like to hear from me if it works. Not likely. This is being returned today. 1 star for putting a product on the floor that won't install, and then offering a fix that requires 21 manual steps, including a diagnostic boot in Windows XP. I'll just write up my business plan in Word, thank you very much. 5 stars (Perfect for me...) - It has everything that I need, easy to understand it complicate and not complicate business plans (as I wish).
